Narrated from the perspective of the lovely, likeable Leah, and set over dual timelines, it flows seamlessly between alternating chapters of ‘then’ and ‘now’. Featuring wonderful, well-crafted, relatable main characters, and a stellar supporting cast. A beautiful story about love and family and healing broken hearts. It swept me up and wouldn’t let me go – I loved it’ BETH O’LEARY The research for this was eye opening. I hadn't fully understood the amazing job that foster parents and those that adopt go through. It broke my heart at times. An inspiring, unforgettable, incredibly special story. Highly recommend.Thank you Simon and Schuster and Netgalley for the preview of Paige Toons new book. As a huge fan Paige's work I was so excited when I saw I had been approved for this one ... not going to lie, I was a tad disappointed when I realised it was just a chapter preview .. I must have missed that in my excitement of seeing it and requesting it ... although something is better than nothing so I am not complaining at all!!

Family and friendship is at its heart. The change between past and present means you truly understand the relationship between Theo, George and Leah. Everyone should have a family who loves you no matter what and everyone should have friends like these. I just fell in love with them all. I felt so connected to them. Unfolding via a then to now style timeline interchange, Someone I Used To Know introduces Leah and George. Both characters are learning to overcome their circumstances. Despite their troubles, Leah and George forge a bond that will be strained at times but also supportive. When Theo arrives at Leah and George’s school a connection forms between the three teenagers. Over the course of a summer, this bond becomes stronger. However, when life stresses and changes get in the way this intense bond is put under strain. Will the teenagers continue to support one another into the future? Paige Toon is widely known for her work as a contemporary romance novelist. While I will say this book does contain a romance element, there is more of a life fiction vibe to this tale. With a focus on family, relationships, friendships, children, parenting, love, second chances, the past and trust, Someone I Used To Know crosses common life territory. With an honest and sincere approach to the story at hand, Paige Toon’s latest is an optimistic story that enables us to see that life really is what you make it.Thank you so so much to Paige Toon for sending me a copy of this one in exchange for an honest review! Theo’s wealthy family have mysteriously pulled him out of boarding school and he’s now enrolled with Leah and George. When their worlds collide that summer, George, Leah and Theo form a bond they believe will be unbreakable. But life doesn’t always go to plan… What a perfect emotive journey! I could feel every character so brilliantly, the writing was beyond immersive…I really never wanted this to end!”—Louise Pentland, author of Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter

Shifting between the past and the present, this is a heart wrenching tale of first love and second chances.I really don't know where to start with this review, I mean I thought the book was fabulous, and I heartily recommend it to everyone but I can't quite get to grips with my thoughts past that.
