About this deal
Some might argue that the problem lies in the upbringing of children, but the real problem prevails in the programming of our minds. As grown-ups, we can all relate to the times when we were punished or reprimanded just for being too playful as kids. As if, it is bad to express your innate proclivity towards playing and expressing joy. It is impossible not to notice that the risk-reward system is corrupt to the very core. Considering the example above, we are the Gods to millions of cells and bacteria that live in our bodies.
The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz, Janet Mills - Waterstones
Soul Primacy’s favorite part of The Mastery of Love is Chapter Seven, The Dream Master. A dream master is a person who intentionally works to transform their automatic programming. What does automatic programming even mean? It all comes down to your reactions. Your life is one large manifestation of your own choices. Just like you can’t expect your body to transform into a lean muscular one in just one day, you can’t expect a chronic mental disease to be healed overnight. At this point I realized that he is either an Atheist, or believes in an unformed God that is simply the spirit of life within each of us. He does not believe there is any right or wrong…it is all perception. To me it slapped our Founding Fathers in the face - “We hold these truths to be self evident.” Don Miguel Ruiz would argue that they are only self-evident because we are all in the same dream, they are self-evident because we have convinced ourselves they are true. Think of it this way – children get into a quarrel with their friends about something trivial, and they get angry. With time, that child becomes aware that neglecting the problem, or pushing it aside, doesn’t add to the problem-solving, not in the least. In The Mastery of Love, Ruiz says everything that exists is both hunter and prey. Including humans; within each of us lives a hunter and prey. What are we hunting? Love and fulfillment of our needs. But when we hunt for what we don’t need, we become predators. Thus, hunting for love and validation from others will never satiate us.
