About this deal

When you pair your headset with an entry-level device (from an audio perspective), like a cheap digital player, or cell phone, you’re not going to get the best results. Although longevity and extremely robust construction are important, you also need to get the style right. The split headband was exceptionally comfortable. Having the ability to adjust the two headbands allowed me to find the sweet spot easily. A good amount of headband padding and a solid amount of clamping force kept these on my head. Even when I was bopping away mid-set.

Sennheiser HD25 Review: The Ultimate DJ Workhorse

Sure, these iconic DJ headphones are a bit low-key than the flashing LED headsets and neon-colored cans we’ve seen elsewhere on the market. However, they look professional enough that you shouldn’t worry too much. Another bonus of the HD 25 headphones is how easy they are to use. As with most headphones in the modern market, the better your audio source, the better your headphones are going to sound.

Timeless and robust DJ and recording booth favourites

Surprisingly, though these headsets are some of the most popular in the world for DJs, they’ve never been the most comfortable. The sound quality of the Sennheiser HD25 headphones is one of the better-known features among professionals. This saying is not technically exactly correct but for every day use use of dynamic microphones you will not find gain limitations. At SPL levels above 160 dB some mechanical problems might occur (for example the voice coil might crash onto the magnet) but these SPL levels are very hard to find in real world.

There aren't many included accessories to talk about—the detachable cable is the only one the headphones ship with. It terminates in 3.5mm, so there is a ¼-inch adapter for pro-gear and stereo receivers. Aside from that, there's a soft, zip-up carrying case, and that's it. For the price, the HD 25 Aluminum seems a tad light on the accessories—an extra cable, perhaps one with phone controls so that this pair can be used easily with mobile devices and not just professional settings—would've been a nice touch. The earpads are removable and replaceable, but no extras ship with the headphones. Sennheiser has a fantastic reputation for manufacturing headphones that suit a range of professional applications. If you’re used to accessing consumer headphones with more warmth and bass response, then these headphones might sound a little odd at first. Be patient, you’re really getting a much more accurate response here.

Perhaps unsurprisingly for a set of on-ear headphones, the soundstage isn’t amazing – but it’s fine. You get a decent amount of sound depth, despite the clamping experience, and detail retrieval is ideal across the spectrum. Unlike other headphones that seem to work best with specific types of music like hip-hop or metal, the HD 25 remains true to its purpose with every genre. You may struggle a little with bass-heavy genres if you’re listening for pleasure alone. Listening options
