About this deal
Long story short: it should have ended with Aizen. The new arc is a nice summation of everything that was wrong with the manga, narrative wise - an overflow of new characters that neither contribute to the story, nor is the reader given enough time to truly get to know and appreciate them. Plot holes, retconning, and an amalgamation of characters, weird motivations, cheesy and rushed ending... There's almost nothing redeemable about the final arc, which read more like an author unwilling or unable to let go of their massively popular creation than an actual effort at telling a story, save for Orihime's growth. Her story has at least some semblance of beauty, though it is greatly diminished by the return of Ichigo's power (imagine the main protagonist being allowed to be protected by someone, let alone a woman for once), and it continues the trend of robbing the past of its glory to try to paint the present slightly more positively.
